On Saturday morning, the town of Frederiksted was flooded with carnival costumes, rainbow-colored flags, and festive attires celebrating the “PRIDE Parade Walk/Health and Wellness” program hosted by the Frederiksted Health Care INC. The event witnessed participation from more than 200 participants.
The objective of the event was to raise awareness among the public in connection with pride month regarding the importance of different communities, their physical and mental health, and how to be more tolerant towards them. The march covered the Ann Abramson Port to the Madre Cummings Park and finally concluded at Strand Street.
Pride month aims to recognize the prosecutions faced by the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer communities around the world, since the Stonewall uprising in 1969, which aimed at demanding liberty, equality, and justice by the members of this community.
