Finland has removed all border restrictions along the COVID route

It is not required anymore for travelers reaching from outside of the EU areas or Schengen to present an immunization certificate or a negative coronavirus test result. This requirement was eliminated.

According to a press release issued by the Ministry of the Interior, the 30th of June will mark the end of all limitations on Finland's peripheral borders that are related to Covid.

As a result, beginning in the first week of July, it will no longer be necessary for passengers entering the country from exterior the Schengen or EU areas to present a vaccination certificate or a negative coronavirus test result. This change will take effect for all passengers.

In addition to that, the Covid tests that are currently administered at ports of entry will be discontinued.

The ministry added that the decision was made after Finnish authorities said that there are not required anymore.

At the end of January, regulations at Finland's borders were lifted for passengers arriving from countries that are part of the Schengen Area as well as passengers arriving from EU member states that are not part of the Schengen Area.

It is anticipated that the full removal of the measures will result in an increase in traffic coming from other than Schengen and EU regions beginning in July. This will include traffic crossing Finland's border with Russia.

The Ministry of the Interior pointed out that the volume of traffic crossing the eastern border will still be influenced by factors such as the number of valid visas and the interest among Russians in taking vacations in Finland.
