The health ministry reported Wednesday that there were 22,438 new cases of COVID-19 infections in Italy within the last 24 hours, with 114 additional victims of the virus.

On Tuesday, there were 29,875 new infections and 95 new deaths. 220,101 further tests were done, in comparison to 269,871 on Tuesday. The percentage of people who are positive has dropped from 11 percent to 10.2 percent.

Intensive care cases have decreased by 19 to 271, and hospitalizations have decreased by 288 to 5,969.
