COVID-19 in Réunion: The incidence rate finally drops below the national average
In Reunion, the health situation is improving. For the first time this year, the island had fewer than 1,500 COVID cases every week. The coronavirus is no longer circulating in Reunion.
The marginal increases at the beginning of the school year did not lead to the rebounding of the viral infection on the island. This week, La Réunion is expected to fall below the 1,500 weekly COVID-19 cases threshold.
Less than 1,500 cases
According to the Regional Health Agency, almost 1,500 cases of COVID-19 were identified in Reunion during a week, from Saturday, June 4 to Friday, June 10. The rate of COVID circulation on the French island has decreased by around 25%.
The positivity rate of COVID-19 logically drops and stands at 13%. The rate of occurrence of the viral infection is 176 cases per 100,000 people. For the first time in months, it is below the national average (251 cases per 100,000 people).
Restrictive measures are still in force
In Réunion, the coronavirus epidemic is rapidly and steadily diminishing. The final steps to combat the coronavirus have yet to be released, leaving Reunionese to wonder when the restrictions will be lifted. Reunion, which mentions the prefecture on its website, is currently subject to just national health requirements.
In hospitals, nursing homes, senior centers, and facilities for the disabled, the Health Pass is still required. There are no other compelling grounds, but non-vaccinated passengers must still undergo an anti-covid test before boarding.
