Covid-19 transmission, which has the potential to spread, must be monitored by community and municipal administrations

The Community and Local Government should keep an eye on Covid-19 transmission.

On Thursday, Wiku Adisasmito, the government spokeswoman for Covid-19 management, revealed this on the Presidential Secretariat YouTube channel.

He advised all parties to proceed with caution, and warning that the Covid-19 situation in Indonesia could spiral out of control.

In the last three weeks, he said, there has been a spike in positive cases, followed by an increase in active cases in the last four days.

In actuality, according to Wiku, since the Omicron wave, events have remained constant for three months in a row.

"Despite the meagre numbers, we should take note of the increase in cases that we all saw during the Covid-19 wave." He remarked, "We have to be on the lookout for even the tiniest spike."

According to the graph of data as of June 5, 2022, there was a 571-case increase in weekly positive cases, or 31%, from 1,814 to 2,385 weekly instances, compared to May 22, 2022.

The number of daily active cases increased by 328, or 10%, from 3,105 to 3,433 between June 2, 2022 and June 2, 2023.

However, the rise in positive cases was not accompanied by a rise in the everyday isolation bed tenancy trend (BOR) in hospitals, which remained stable, and the weekly death trend continued to fall.

In the last week, DKI Jakarta expanded by 30%, Banten increased by 38%, West Java increased by 18%, DI Yogyakarta increased by 45 percent, and East Java increased by 37%, according to provincial-level development data.

The return to routine of community activities is one of the factors contributing to the present uptick in instances.

"Please pay attention to all local governments and citizens in the province," Wiku continued.

However, there is some good news: the death rates in these provinces are decreasing. With the exception of DI Yogyakarta, where the weekly fatality rate has risen from one to three in the last week, the BOR percentage has stayed below 3%.

He said that governors and regents/mayors were responsible with instantly monitoring and controlling expansion.

He also advised those to return to ordinary activity in order to avoid becoming reckless. Hand cleaning and wearing a mask will go a long way toward preventing the infection from spreading.
