On Sunday, the number of COVID-19 infections in Turkey fell below 1,000, with the health minister promising further relaxation of mask rules if the figures stayed constant for three days.
The Ministry of Health has reported 905 new COVID-19 infections, five fatalities, and 1,019 recoveries in the last twenty-four hours. A total of 118,852 tests were carried out.
“The long-awaited day has arrived.” The reported number of cases has fallen below 1,000. There have been five documented deaths. Masks will no longer be necessary on public transportation if the number of cases falls below 1,000 for three consecutive days. Fahrettin Koca, Minister of Health, tweeted the following.
Turkey has supplied more than 147.67 million doses of vaccine to prevent the spread of the virus since commencing an immunization programme in January 2021.
Over 53.05 million people are fully immunized, with over 57.83 million receiving their first immunization.
Last month, Turkey lifted its long-standing ban on wearing masks indoors, with the exception of public transportation and hospitals.
According to Johns Hopkins University in the United States, at least 525.4 million COVID-19 cases and over 6.27 million deaths have been documented in at least 192 countries and territories since December 2019.
