The outgoing leader of Hong Kong has claimed that it is “too early” to predict a sixth Covid-19 wave but has vowed that the administration will “wholeheartedly devote itself to preparing conditions” for state leaders to visit at the end of the month.

On Tuesday evening, Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor met with government pandemic advisers to discuss further steps to take in light of the recent spike in sickness.

According to sources, officials and specialists analysed the city’s current epidemic state and potential tendencies during the meeting, and their assessment did not differ from past assessments. However, no specific new initiatives were decided upon.
