Coronavirus outbreaks in Hong Kong’s public schools have increased to 204 just weeks before the city marks its 25th anniversary under Chinese rule.
On Monday, public health officials issued an advisory in response to 543 new cases of Covid-19, including 86 cases that were imported. There were no fatalities as a result of the virus.
According to Dr. Chuang Shuk-kwan, director of the Center for Health Protection’s communicable disease division, only 75% of the positive rapid antigen test (RAT) results reported last Friday were confirmed in follow-up checks.
75 cases, or 25 percent of the total, were either retested negative or refused to provide specimens for testing on the day of the reporting of those cases.
