Even though the Sinopharm vaccine, which protects against COVID-19, is already being administered to island residents, citizens of the Comoros Islands are now required to get immunized against the virus. This is a good sign to be optimistic about. President Azali Assoumani's rule has been described as autocratic by critics. In December, he issued a presidential decree mandating that all children be immunized against diseases that could have been averted with immunizations.
