China has reported the fewest new cases of Covid-19 in three months, allowing authorities to relax some of the pandemic’s most stringent viral controls and boost the economy.
In Beijing, there were 12 infections on Sunday, down from 21 on Saturday. Movement restrictions were lifted in certain places when officials declared the outbreak to be under control. The decline has allayed fears that Beijing might shut down after reporting dozens of cases in the outbreak despite strong restrictions a day earlier.
