According to the Chilean Ministry of Health, a young adult who travelled to Europe had monkeypox, which was confirmed in Chile for the first time.

According to Xinhua news agency, the patient, who lives in Chile's Metropolitan area, was suddenly struck with a vesicle-like rash followed by swollen lymph nodes.

It was also noted that the patient was still in decent physical shape and had no other complications.

A doctor should be seen by anybody who has returned from a trip overseas and developed a sudden beginning of unexplained skin lesions, including fever, swollen glands, muscular or back discomfort and weakness, as a result of close epidermal contact, which includes sexual intercourse.

Monkeypox is a viral illness of the zootonic type, and it happens when viruses are transmitted to people from animals. It belongs to the smallpox family and has similar symptoms.
