According to Eang Sophalleth, the Prime Minister's assistant, the Premier made the statement on June 4 during a meeting with Andres Pastrana, President of the Centrist Democrat International (CDI).

Pastrana expressed his sympathies to Prime Minister Hun Sen on the death of Mr Hun Sen's brother during his meeting with him.

Pastrana continued, "This is my third trip to Cambodia to see elections, the first being in 2014 and the second in 2018."

Cambodia has immunised 94.04 percent of its eligible population, according to the latest recent figures. There have been no new Covid-19 cases in the country for more over 20 days. According to the Ministry of Health, just one patient in the country is still being treated with Covid-19.

Cambodia is one of the world's most immunised countries, and in terms of vaccination and Covid-19 prevention, it is far ahead of its ASEAN neighbours. The Prime Minister and the Ministry of Health have urged adherence to preventive measures to keep the country on track with pandemic recovery.
