Bolivia Gets Introduced To Hantavirus

According to a local news media source, the Department Healthcare System (Headquarters) of La Paz discovered three verified infections of hantavirus lately, two in the city of Sapecho and one in La Cascada, both in the commune of Palos Blancos in the La Paz department.

A health notice has been issued, as well as the surveillance has been intensified.

Hantavirus is a devastating viral infection produced by the Hantavirus, which infects the long-tailed mouse as its host. This rodent is located in rural settings, particularly in the tropics, such as forests and farms, where the virus-carrying rodents can be discovered.

This infection is spread by breathing fecal material (poop or urine) or eating food infected with rodent saliva.

Patients with this disease have a high fever, migraines, intestinal issues, difficulty breathing, and hypertension, according to the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO).

The first symptoms of hantavirus develop between seven and 42 days following exposure to the virus, according to information from Headquarters. Because there are no treatments to cure this illness, the fatality rate can reach up to 60%.
