Bishkek has 15 cases of meningitis

According to the Centre for State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance, 15 cases of meningococcal infection were recorded in Bishkek during the first five months of 2022.  There was one fatality.

Six patients were admitted to an infectious diseases hospital in critical condition; one died at the age of 41, despite the medical workers' efforts to save his life through resuscitation measures.

Meningococcal infection is one of the most serious infectious diseases, particularly among children aged one to five.

One of the reasons for the severity of the patients' condition is that they sought medical help late (on the 5th-7th day) and treated themselves at home.
