The week of May 28 to June 3, 2022, saw a decrease in instances in Reunion to 1,924, down from 1,046 the previous week. Because the incidence rate the prior week was 239 per 100,000 residents, this equates to an incidence rate of 225 per 100,000 people. Only 16% of people are upbeat about the future. In terms of percentage change, this is a 20% increase.

Even though the incidence rate peaked on June 8 at approximately 175 instances per 100,000 individuals, it has been steadily decreasing in subsequent days. Patients who have tested positive for COVID-19 are currently not occupying any resuscitation beds.

In the last week, 12 people have died as a result of the COVID-19 virus. Nine people were either unvaccinated or had incomplete immunization schedules. Everyone who got the immunization had at least one co-occurring condition.

Present state of the healthcare system in La Réunion

On June 8, 2022, the prefecture and the Regional Health Agency were forced to announce that ten people had died in the previous week. In addition, two more deaths occurred in April.

The deceased were all over the age of 75; four were between the ages of 65 and 74, and eight were 75 and older. Nine people were either unvaccinated or had incomplete immunization schedules. Each of the three people who were immunized had at least one comorbid ailment.
