This Wednesday, Albania confirmed its first monkeypox case.

According to health officials, the infected patient is a man who has previously visited Portugal.

After doctors noticed symptoms of monkeypox, he went for check-ups and special tests. He is in stable condition and is being treated by doctors.

According to the authorities' notification, the test was performed at the Central Laboratory of Public Health, where the person in question tested positive.

So far, 577 cases of monkeypox have been reported in 18 different European countries, with 437 cases reported outside of Europe.
