7.34% of Burkina Faso citizens are completely vaccinated against COVID-19, a commendable achievement for a country short on resources.

7.34% of Burkina Faso citizens fully vaccinated against COVID-19, a remarkable achievement for a resource-strapped country. A training and awareness session for health journalists emphasizes the importance of vaccination and the country's progress in immunization. With over 2.5 million individuals vaccinated, Burkina Faso is ahead of many neighboring nations, but aims to vaccinate 70% of its population by year-end. Despite a decline in new cases, health officials urge the public to get vaccinated to prevent virus mutations. The government assures citizens that the vaccines are safe and have been properly stored. Decentralized immunization efforts aim to reach their target.

A year after the anti-covid-19 vaccine was first introduced in Burkina Faso, the Ministry of Health reports that 2,551,412 individuals have been vaccinated, or "7.34% of persons entirely immunized."

In terms of immunization, this puts the country ahead of a number of nations in the sub-region. However, health officials are still focused on vaccination upwards of 70% of the people by this year end.

By May 29, 2022, Burkina Faso had more than 21,036 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 20,621 recovered patients, 386 fatalities, and 29 still active cases, two years after the disease's first reported cases.

Health sector coordinator for the COVID-19 response, Dr. Brice Bicaba, noted that the COVID pandemic in the country had four peaks. Although the country has seen a "notable" decline in new cases and hospitalizations since the previous documented peak in December 2021, he observed.

He urged Burkina Faso to be vaccinated since the vaccine is the best approach to combat and prevent the most aggressive types of COVID-19.

COVID-19 has been in a relative slumber for some time now, but the danger of infection, and hence the possibility of the virus mutating, is still not zero." To avoid the emergence of mutant forms, "he said, populations must consequently stick massively to this immunization."

Additionally, Burkina Faso's Director of Prevention through Vaccination wanted to reassure the country's citizens that the vaccinations they receive are the same ones that are given in Western countries. Moreover, he claimed that the government has the requisite technology to keep these vaccines safe and secure.

"As proof, no vaccination has been degraded owing to improper storage since we acquired these immunizations." As proof of the quality of immunizations we give to our citizens, he stated."

It had been the goal of the Burkinabè Ministry of Health to immunize 70 percent of the population by year's end. However, in order to do this, the Ministry of Health has decentralized immunization to every public health institution. This is the way that they hope to succeed.
