50 transplants donated to Ukrainian children by UAE-based entrepreneur 

VPS Healthcare's Chairman and Managing Director, Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, has vowed to perform 50 pediatric stem cell transplants in Ukraine.

On the eve of the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting, VPS Healthcare announced the foundation of Burjeel Holdings, an intermediary holding company. Burjeel Holdings will carry on the organization's legacy of providing an unrivaled continuum of compassionate care throughout the Gulf region and beyond via its network of hospitals, specialized clinics, and allied services.

"I am glad to announce our commitment to assisting those affected by the Ukrainian situation." This gift will contribute to the critical effort of rebuilding a solid community in the war-torn region. We have seen that children, particularly those undergoing cancer treatment, are suffering the most as a result of this sad battle. Hundreds of patients have already been evacuated to receive life-saving treatments, and Burjeel Holdings will make every effort to provide them with the care they need," stated Dr. Shamsheer, who started his company with the goal of ensuring healthcare equity. In pursuit of this aim, he has prioritized outreach through humanitarian and relief operations.

Over the last 15 years, Dr. Shamsheer and VPS Healthcare have been at the forefront of various humanitarian actions. Yemeni war victims were treated in VPS Healthcare hospitals in India in 2018. Dr. Shamsheer plans to rebuild a flood-damaged primary health care center in Kerala in 2021. To honor the late Sheik Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the organization launched the '100 Free Heart Surgeries' campaign for individuals in need.

Dr. Shamsheer provided additional assistance on behalf of individuals who joined the promise of support at Burjeel House in Davos, in addition to the stem cell transplants for Ukrainian refugees. On the margins of the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting, the Burjeel House will host purposeful, collaborative dialogues on issues ranging from whole-body healing to catalyzing equitable health training, scaling effect, and supporting medical and technical innovation.
