112 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Kenya, resulting in a 5.1% positivity rate

Recently, 112 people out of 2,214 tested positive for COVID-19, according to the Ministry of Health. As per the statement from Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, the country's positive rate for the disease has grown to 5.1 percent. This figure was revealed in a statement issued on Sunday.

The cases of the infection involve 86 nationals and 26 foreigners. There are 60 males and 52 females among them, with the youngest being five years old and the oldest being 91 years old. With 3,682,132 tests completed, the overall number of COVID-19 positive cases is 325,554.

Kitui has reported ten cases, Murang'a has documented six, and Kiambu has recorded three. Kericho had the fewest cases, with only two reported. CS Kagwe reported that the Home-Based and Isolation Care Programs resulted in 63 more recoveries. All of these took place within the same time period.

"This brings the overall number of recoveries from the disease to 318,818," he stated, "with 265,787, thanks to three Home-Based Care and Isolation programs and 53,031 from various health facilities throughout the country."

No new fatalities were reported as a result of COVID-19, therefore the number of deaths in Kenya remains at 5,651. As of June 4, 18,271,847 vaccines have been given across the country as part of the vaccination campaign that’s ongoing, according to the ministry.

"Approximately 31.1 percent of adults have received all of their COVID-19 vaccinations. The government intends to vaccinate around 27,246,033 people throughout the country," Kagwe stated.
